Dental or fissure sealant is applied to prevent cavities. It can also be used to contain any existing small cavities. It is an excellent treatment option for children, whose teeth are more susceptible to cavities and who may already be suffering from damaged caused by caries that cannot be addressed with fluoride and additional cleaning. In some cases, fissure sealant can be indicated for adult patients too.

Fissure sealants – quick and pain-free

The chewing surfaces of your molars are cleaned and coated with phosphoric acid solution. This gives them a porous texture which allows the sealant to adhere better to the surface. The liquid sealant is then applied and set with a UV light. Any surplus sealant is trimmed off and the teeth polished. The procedure is quick and completely pain-free.
